Before her illness, she worked for DST Argus Health Systems as a pharmacy benefits analyst for 10 years where she made many close friends who stood by her side and encouraged her through her illness. Prior to that, she worked for Hallmark Cards, Prada Net Publishing, Coleridge Design and free-lanced as a graphic designed.

Denise was preceded in death by her father, John Leslie Whithorne. She is survived by her mother, Martha Jane Whithorne, her sisters, Irene Moore, Louisburg, KS, Lori Schmidt (Jim), Kansas City, KS, and Stacy Bersbach (Michael), Olathe, KS, and many nieces and nephews that she adored. She had some of the best friends who embraced her with love, memories and comfort on her last days....Warrior Women.
