Dee Ann Chaffin

DEE ANN CHAFFIN, Age 53, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on August 20, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Christian Church or the Santa Fe Trail School PTA, 7100 Lamar, Overland Park, KS 66204.

Dee was born October 12, 1956 in Iola, Kansas to Dean and Mardell (Culbertson) Englebrecht. She was a resident of Lawrence, KS and attended the University of Kansas, receiving a Degree in Nursing in 1979. She completed her Masters in Nursing, and recently earned a license in massage therapy.

Dee taught nursing courses at the University of Kansas and also worked in the Labor and Delivery Floor of KU Medical Center. She later became a specialist in treating infertility. Most recently, Dee found her true passion working as a school nurse and was awarded the School Nurse of the Year for the Shawnee Mission School District in 2010.

Dee enjoyed volunteering anywhere she was needed, and especially enjoyed helping her students and their families, along with her friends and her own family.

She is survived by her sons, Alex and Ben, her former husband, Tom Chaffin, her aunts Maralyn Guyll, Lois Stockebrand, and Janice Culbertson, her uncle Carl Guyll, and her sister, Jane (Englebrecht) Phelps. She was preceded in death by her parents.
