Debra Jane Rapson, 55, of Gardner, left her earthly bounds on June 21, 2013 after a two-year battle with cancer. Debbie was born October 7, 1957 to Edwin and Alice (Owens) Hockett in Coffeyville, Kansas and was raised in Mound Valley, Kansas. She graduated fom Labette County High School, Altamont, KS in 1975 and Central Business College in Wichita in 1978. She worked for Honeywell for almost 25 years in the database department in customer service, and assisted her sister with their banner tow business at Wings Unlimited. Debbie enjoyed watching her grandson, DJ, play baseball; she loved to read, spend time with her kitties, and was an avid Chiefs fan. She was a member of the Livestrong group from the Olathe YMCA.
Debbie is survived by her son, Eric Rapson of Atlanta, GA, her daughter Hillary Rapson and grandson DJ Barnett of the family home in Gardner, KS, mother Alice Hockett, Mound Valley, KS, brother Larry Hockett (Jane) of Springfield, IL, sisters Sandy Dyke, Thayer, KS, Pat Hockett, Olathe, KS, Bonnie Wells (Maynard), Alamo, TX, Marie Addison (Gary), Memphis, TN, and Diana Hockett, Bartlesville, OK, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Edwin Hockett, and nephew Nathan Forrest.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of life at 11:00am at the DeSoto United Methodist Church, 8760 Kill Creek Rd, DeSotos, KS.
