David G. Young, 62, of Olathe, KS passed away Sat. Sept. 27th.
Dave was born December 21, 1951 in Iowa City, IA to Guy and Mamie Young.
Dave grew up in Wamego, KS and attended grade and high school in Wamego where he was active in scouting. He graduated from Kansas Technical Institute (now K-State Salina) with an Associate's degree in electronics. Dave worked his entire career in the field of electronics. He worked for Smith & Loveless in Lenexa where his was a Senior Electrical Design Drafter, designing electrical panels which he dearly enjoyed.
One of his other favorite things he dearly loved was scouting. Both Jeff and Alan went on many many camping trips each month and every summer, and he was always ready to go camping anytime the boys wanted to. His favorite trips were the 8 times he spent at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch in Colorado with both boys. Being outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and anything that involved being outside was one of his favorite pastimes. Even after both Jeff and Alan had attained the rank of Eagle, and were not as active in scouting, Dave continued to be active and help anybody that needed any assistance or guidance. Dave was the troops Quartermaster for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Rufus "Bud" Young.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Maylene Young of the home. Dave is also survived by his two sons Jeff (Jessica) Young, Alan (Katie) Young and the love of "PaPa's" life granddaughter Haley aka "cupcake". Dave is also survived by his sister Betty (Don) Mazer of Wamego, KS and many nieces, nephews and his little four legged friend Missy.
The things that brought Dave the most joy in life was his family and friends. He has left us way to soon and forever will be missed but never forgotten.
