David L. Wages

April 27, 1968 — July 30, 2017

DAVID LAWRENCE WAGES, age 49, passed away July 30, 2017. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob, Olathe, KS.

David Lawrence Wages 49 passed away on Sunday July 30th 2017. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 27th 1968. He graduated from Olathe South High School in 1986 & earned certifications for IT work at Kansas City Kansas Community College; as well as attended Johnson County Community College. He is survived by his daughter Sarah Wages, his parents Pamela & Gary Wages, his grandmother Bernelle Wages, his brother Sean Wages, & his nieces Elizabeth Wages & Bridget Furlong (Jonathan).

David was known for his handy work. He was the owner & operator of his own handyman service Wages Services. He could fix anything. He loved to help everyone he could, friends, family, or even a complete stranger. But what he loved most in life is his daughter Sarah. Sarah was the bright ray of sunshine in David's life & he let that light shine through him. His priority in life was always Sarah. He always told her she could do anything she put her mind to. He held the moments & memories he had with Sarah the closest to his heart. He loved going on adventures with her in the woods, or climbing on roofs & watching the sunset, letting her challenge him with her latest idea for a craft, building forts, & acting out as Pirates of the Caribbean. Throughout all the wonderful times they shared, he always listened to her & encouraged her to chase her dreams. There is no doubt that David is still shining down that light Sarah gave to him.

He grew up in an environment surrounded by loving relatives & wonderful friends. And anyone that knows David could see he learned from that & showed the same amount of love.

David was always a very optimistic, loving, gentle, & caring person. He never failed to make anyone laugh. He could make anyone smile in any situation whether imitating Donald Duck or during more serious moments by just being a shoulder for someone to lean on.

David found peace in fishing. A lot of the best memories he had was going fishing with his father Gary & his brother Sean. If there was water, he would fish it. It was even better for him when his family was there. He looked up to his big brother Sean. From racing cars to hunting, they did everything together. He always let everyone know, especially Sean, that he caught the bigger fish or shot the bird.

David will be missed by many, but cherished in our hearts forever. He was always so young at heart & he is the true meaning of being gone too soon.

Memorials are suggested to the Sarah K. Wages Memorial Education Fund, in c/o Enterprise Bank, 444 E. Santa Fe, Olathe, KS 66062.
