David H Trogdon 86, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on September 5, 2018 in his sleep.
David was born May 13, 1932 to Maurine and Ralph Trogdon in Kansas City, MO. David was an Eagle Scout of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1949. Dave was a veteran. He joined the US Navy Reserves serving active duty for two years. In 1952, Dave went to work for the Phillips Petroleum Co. David held many positions at the company for 42 years before retiring in 1994. During his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends, listening to the Royals and wintering in Scottsdale, AZ.
What he enjoyed the most was the volunteer work he performed for 17 years as a Motorist Assist Officer for the Overland Park Police Department. Dave received great satisfaction helping hundreds of stranded motorists get back on the road in all kinds of weather. David was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS. He was a resident at The Forum of Overland Park after his health declined in 2016.
David was preceded in death by his parents Maurine and Ralph Trogdon; daughter, Sue Trogdon; grandson James Rockwell and granddaughter Christina Trogdon. David is survived by Mary Ruth, his wife of 66 years; daughters Sheryl Rockwell (Stephen) of Overland Park and Julie Clayton (Randy) of Olathe, KS; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer, Michael, and Mitchell; James' wife Mikki; 7 great-grandchildren: Brett, Koty, Reed, Jake, Fletcher, Kasey and Paxton. David also leaves behind his younger brother William Trogdon and his wife Janet of Columbia, MO.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers at the Forum and Crossroads Hospice for making him comfortable during his last days.
Dave lived a long full life and was happiest when he could help his family. Dave will be missed by his friends and family. Private services for the family will be held soon.
