David William Seward, a dedicated veteran and family man, passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 72 in Olathe, Kansas. Born on November 11, 1952, David led a life exemplary in service and commitment, notably through his extensive career in the United States Marine Corps and the Department of Defense.
David's military service spanned 22 years, during which time he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant, exemplifying leadership and dedication to his country. Following his honorable discharge, he continued to serve the nation for 30 years within the Marine Corps Department of Defense as a civilian contractor, reflecting a lifetime commitment to contributing to the safety and security of his fellow citizens.
An avid learner, David earned dual Bachelor's degrees and dual Master's degrees, showcasing his zeal for education and continuous improvement. This dedication to personal growth was mirrored in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid reader as well, enjoyed brewing beer, fixing up old automobiles, house remodeling, creating an aquaponics garden, and cultivating bonsai trees. His passion for ancestry was profound; David tracked over 6,000 family members, tracing back to the 1500s, a testament to his commitment to understanding and preserving his family legacy.
David is survived by his sister, Mary Anne Seward (Christian Sebaldt), brother John Seward (Sue) and his loving children: Tamra Fisher (Tim), Mark Cygan (Amy), Kristhia Seward, and Danielle Seward. His beloved grandchildren: Natalie Flickinger, Callie Fisher, Kaleb Cygan, Keira Seward, Avery Fisher, Shelby Seward, Miley Fisher, and Olivia Cygan. He was preceded in death by his treasured wife, Karen Seward.

A Funeral Service in honor of David will take place on March 7, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, located at 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224 with a celebration of life reception immediately following at The Venue, located at 4800 W. 135th St, Leawood, KS 66224. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate the life and legacy of this remarkable man who embraced life with dedication and love. David William Seward will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering spirit and generosity.
