David Arthur Post, age 67, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke February 11, 2015 and died February 12th at 1:03 a.m. at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

David was born in Hartford, CT to Robert and Olive Post, and graduated from Parsons High School in 1965. He served our country in the US Air Force during Vietnam War while on active duty for five years, then continued in the Air Force Reserve retiring with 22 years of total service.
He married Janet Jones on November 10, 1973 in Parsons, Kansas, where they began their family. He began his law enforcement career in Parsons in 1973 as a police officer. He then worked for the MKT Railroad as a detective, moving to the Kansas City area in 1983. He worked for the Johnson County Sheriff's Department as a deputy 1989-2002, retiring as a sergeant after suffering a stroke. David and Janet moved to Ankeny, Iowa in July 2014.
He enjoyed model railroading, fishing, traveling, visiting with friends, and frequent visits to the donut shop. He was a hard worker, treasured his family, and loved to make everyone laugh.
He is survived by his wife Janet of the home, daughters Shannon (Chris) Bartlett of Kansas City, MO; Carrie (Jason) Ortega of Ankeny, Iowa; Tammi Post and family of Missouri; grandchildren David, Naomi and Matthew Bartlett, and Samuel and Chase Ortega; sisters Bonnie (Ron) Curtis of Parsons, Kansas and Lora Bennett of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, and granddaughter Liliana Ortega.
