David Hegner

David Hegner, 51, Overland Park, died of cancer May 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by family and dear friends.

David was born to Hank and Erna (Wals) Hegner, November 2, 1959 in Kirkwood, Missouri. He grew up in the Chicago area and moved to Fairfax, Virginia in 1978. There he met his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his wife, Judy (nee Beyer). A graduate of George Mason, David was employed by Sprint since 1990. He and his family moved to Overland Park in 2003. He was a devoted husband and father, an active servant in his church and a Royal Rangers Commander.

David was preceded in death by a brother, Carl.

He is survived by his wife Judy of nearly 25 years and children William, Julianna, Benjamin, Emily, Gregory and Karen of the home. He is also survived by his parents of Virginia, brothers Henry (Donna) of Maryland and Blaine (Darby), sister Jessica (Dean) Mendez, sister-in-law Tammy Hegner, all of Virginia, three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, five nieces and seven nephews.

A joyful, generous man, he will be missed by many other relatives and friends.
