David Anthony Davis

January 22, 1962 — May 31, 2017

David A. Davis, 55, of Olathe, Kansas, passed on May 31, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center.

David grew up in Northeast Kansas City, MO, attending Holy Cross Grade School, St. Mary's High School in Independence, MO. and graduated from Park Hill High School in North Kansas City.

After working mainly in food service jobs locally, he moved to Florida settling in the Sarasota area on Anna Maria Island. He continued to work in restaurants as a cook or waiter for over 20 years. His parents, Leroy and Mary, started vacationing in the winter on Anna Maria to see David from time to time.

David moved back home in 2006 after his dad died. He stayed in food service and attended JCCC for a time at the culinary school.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy C. Davis and mother, Mary T. Davis, his brother, Jimmy, and his nephew, Kylen Wilder.

He is survived by his brother, Michael Davis (Kendra), his two sisters, Diane Davis, and Mary Hattesohl (Jeff), his brother, Paul, and his nieces and nephews, Christy, Megan, Tony, Kara, Connor, Joseph, James, Camille, Jason, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

David never knew a stranger and was known by his smile and sense of humor. You could always hear his laugh in a group of people. Besides cooking anything, he loved the outdoors, the ocean, and cats...and dogs. He loved life.
