David Duane Blackwood, 52, of Stilwell, KS, passed away on July 7, 2014, in Kansas City, MO.
David Duane Blackwood was born in Washington, KS, to Duane A. Blackwood and Lola Mae Blackwood on February 15, 1962 He was baptized March 18, 1962 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville, KS. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Belleville, KS and was confirmed in his faith on November 6, 1977. He went to school at Belleville, KS, and graduated with the Class of 1980. He played basketball and ran track and cross country. He married Donna Rae Peters on May 4, 1984, in Belleville, KS. They divorced in 2003.
He graduated from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS and was a member of Beta Sigma Psi. David worked as a civil/structural engineer for Black & Veatch, Kansas City for a number of years. For the past years he was working as a structural engineer for Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City, MO.
David was involved in watching and supporting his daughters in their sports and school activities. He was an avid car enthusiast and collected Ford super coupes. He was a member of the Super Coupe Club of America and never missed an Indy 500 with his girls. He was a die-hard Kansas Chief and Kansas State Wildcat fan.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents Herman & Minnie Niemeier and Alfred & Luella Blackwood.
David is survived two daughters Krista & Kaelen Blackwood, Stilwell, KS, brother, Harvey Blackwood, Belleville, KS, sisters Sandy (Kyle) Swart, Marysville, KS, and Sherrie Larson, Belleville, his parents, Duane A. and Lola Mae Blackwood, Belleville, KS.
Casketbearers will be Barry Bottger, Mike Cottenmyre, Bob Herbic, Blaine Spurney, Brad Wilkinson, and Mitch Wulfekoetter.
Memorials will be designated at a later time, and may be given in care of the family.
