Daniel Wickoren

August 20, 1971 — June 20, 2015

Daniel Paul Wickoren, 43 of Olathe, passed away on June 20, 2015. He was born on August 20, 1971 to Dean and Marjorie Wickoren in St. Paul, MN.

Daniel is survived by his loving parents Dean and Marjorie, the love of his life, Renee Victoria, his beloved children Nathaniel Dean, Jacob Paul and Sarah Rose. He is also survived by his cherished stepson Matthew as well as his beloved stepchildren Samantha and Jesse. He has 5 brothers, Mark, Joel, Martin, Richard and Eric as well as two sisters Aida and Carmen. He is also survived by Renee's sons Michael and Brian as well as grandson Elias, as well as his dedicated dog Spencer.

Those who knew Dan were blessed, he was completely honest, hardworking and kind. He was extremely giving and selfless. He understood love and loved deeply and has been an extremely positive force in the lives of those in his family. He had a gift with people and loved to provide ways to better their lives, to bring out the good. Most everyone who was a part of Dan's life became better people due to his presence. People were attracted to his humble ways, his kind soul and the realness of this man. He was extremely funny and witty and understood and enjoyed what is important in life. He loved his children very much, they were his life. He loved his parents and family very much and believed that the sun rose and set around his loving mother. He had a beautiful relationship with Renee lasting over a decade filled with deep love and respect. He had a deep bond and especially close relationship with his brother Joel and loved being down by the river with him or playing horseshoes with him while talking for hours at their parents.

Dan had a multitude of friends that he loved and that loved him very much, some were like brothers, Greg and Michael Garnand were dedicated friends helping Dan through a difficult time in his life as well as his lifelong Navy friend and brother, Shawn Menard who provided some many wonderful memories for Dan. Dan recently was able to mentor Shawn's son Gabe at the shop and immediately they bonded and loved each other.

Dan loved nature such as fishing, camping, hunting, gardening and appreciated observing the beauty of the outdoors. He loved being outside doing yard work, chopping wood or just visiting neighbors in the yard after work. He enjoyed music and played guitar and also enjoyed listening to political talk show radio regularly. He love to grocery shop and cook for his family and found comfort with his wonderful children just being at home.

Dan graduated from Paola High School in 1989, he served the Country that he loved in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and than earned a degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. He was the co-owner of Jackson Specialties/Geoform where he worked closely with his wonderful brother Richard to build a successful business based on honesty, pride and high quality products in metal fabrication. Dan's business contacts enjoyed communicating with him because of his decency and truthfulness yet Dan had no tolerance for those who were dishonest.

What truly defines this beautiful man is the dedication he had to his children and family. He struggled for years to attain a nice, stable life for them and had achieved that for them, the ultimate demonstration of fatherly love.

Those of us who were blessed to really know him and that were loved by him feel the painful void in our hearts and soul. Dan will be missed forever and we await the time that we meet him again in Heaven.
