Dale Galemore

June 8, 1954 — July 27, 2019

Dale Allen Galemore, 65, of Olathe, KS, passed away on July 27, 2019. He was born June 8, 1954, the seventh of eight children, to Orian and May Galemore in Yates Center, KS. At the age of 3, his father passed away and soon after, his oldest brother and stepfather, forging an unending bond with his loving mother. Participation in little league baseball, boy scouts, Thespians, Kay Club, Y Club and Student Council provided a host of male mentors. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1972, completed his associate degree at Neosho County Community College in 1974 and earned his bachelor's degree in business at MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2002. He was the first in his family to graduate from college.

When he was a college freshman, his boldness was apparent in asking his high school principal's young daughter, Cindy Stamps, on a date. He first became acquainted with Cindy through his friendship with Sandra Valeriano, an exchange student from Brazil hosted by the Stamps family. He was slowly and assuredly adopted in the Stamps family, gaining approvals of Grandpa Herman Ketteman and the Stamps' adopted Grandma, Opal Goldsmith. Waiting patiently for Cindy to finish high school and complete a minimum of one year of college, they married July 10, 1977 in Arkansas City, KS, and just celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.

Dale began his business career in Chanute, KS, working several years in electrical sales, relocating to the Kansas City area in 1984 with Birdview Satellite Communications, Inc. He transitioned to the medical equipment service industry in 1986, a compliment to Cindy's career as a registered nurse, successfully navigating multiple company mergers for over 20 years. He was on the forefront of health record computerization, later focusing primarily on cardiology equipment and worked in hospitals and clinics all across the country and abroad. He held a variety of positions, including that of purchasing manager, field sales representative, service manager and finally finishing his career as a senior implementation manager. His super-positive, highly animated, congenial personality gained him many business friends worldwide.

Dale was a naturally talented musician, taking up the organ at a young age and soon discovered his love for guitars. From rock bands, to worship bands, to playing for Cindy and family, music was a huge part of his life. Church was Dale's cornerstone, serving in multiple facets of ministry, joining in men's softball and basketball leagues and even teaching junior high Sunday school.

Besides his love for music, he was an avid Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawk basketball fan, a serious "armchair" coach, and was always game to catch a movie, especially if it were a Star Wars or Indiana Jones film, his favorites.
However, Dale's greatest love was his family; his life-saving, CPR providing wife; two children and six grandchildren. He was the best interactive Papa a grandchild could ever wish for - playing, wrestling, offering unlimited treats and acting out his infamous "Donald Duck" sound.

Unfortunately, Dale experienced a cardiac arrest event in 2010, resulting in early retirement, with the eventual diagnosis of early-onset dementia. His faith, sense of humor, big hugs and constant motion will keep him with us. His children share his faith, sense of humor, creativity and will carry on his gift for storytelling. His memory will always be in our hearts.

Survivors include wife Cindy; son Ryan (Rachel) of Olathe; daughter Becca (Michael) Maroon of Fountain Hills, AZ; beloved grandchildren Elijah, Caden, and Madelyn Galemore and Jonah, Shiloh, and Sawyer Maroon; his brother John (Elsie) Galemore of Chanute; sister Barbara (Raymon) Enright of Lindsborg, KS; brother-in-law Ronald Wrestler of Elsmore, KS; sister-in-law Peggy Galemore of Belton, MO; in-laws Guy and Rebecca Stamps of Raymore, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Orian; mother Gertrude (May Darling); brothers Harold, Leon, and Donald; and sisters Betty Wrestler and Donna Zablotny.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 1, 2:00 p.m. at Foundry Church in Lenexa, KS. Private burial will follow in the Galemore Cemetery in Humboldt, KS.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Galemore, Randy Galemore, Jeff Galemore, David Wrestler, Thomas Crank, Kevin Crank, Chris Clayton, and Bill Scorse. Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons and the residents and staff of Prairie Elder Care.

Special thanks to care givers Sidney Scorse, Emma Reaser, and Neven Thompson, as well as Cedar Lake Village, Olathe Hospice, and Prairie Elder Care for their care of Dale these past two years.
