Dale Dennis Brandt, 67, of Olathe, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 at home surrounded by family.
He was born on April 27, 1957 to Emory and Fern (Schroeder) Brandt at LaMars, IA. Dale was baptized into faith on May 12, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in rural Marcus, IA. He confirmed his faith on May 28, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cherokee, IA.
Dale lived on a farm until the age of 6 and then they moved into the town of Cherokee.
Dale started working early in his life. During high school he worked for Hy-Vee in the bakery making donuts. During a commercial bakery strike he made 100’s of loaves of bread helping to keep the local towns people supplied with bread. He graduated from Washington High School May of 1976.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt and trap. Dale and his Dad spent many an hour together with a hook and a bobber in the water. He also enjoyed camping at Spirit Lake, IA with his parents.
Dale was a non-traditional college student. He worked 4 years before starting college. He decided to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Even though he was a non-traditional student, he enjoyed the dorm life. He graduated from USD with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in December, 1984.
USD is where he met the love of his life Carol. He heard her talking with someone about fishing. What, a girl that loves fishing as much as I do? I better get to know her.
On August 23, 1986, he married Carol Ann Mikolash, of Rapid City, South Dakota and they made their home in Overland Park, Kansas. In 1992, they moved to Olathe, Kansas.
After college Dale worked for UMB bank, Jones Store, Hy-Vee, and Walmart. He was employed as a route sales rep with Frito Lay until the time of his retirement in August 2018.
