She worked most of her adult life in the medical billing and health insurance industry, and was promoted into management positions in Professional Relations and Account Services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Humana in Kansas City, Missouri.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years; three children, Kent Cozad, New York City; Kristie Cozad Richerson, Gardner, Kansas; and Kevin Cozad (Elaine), Rogers, Arkansas; her sister, Kathryn Flesher (Jack), Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Matthew Richerson, Olathe; Brian Richerson (Hannah), Portage, Wisconsin; Taylor Cozad (Haley), Anderson, Missouri; and Patrick Richerson, Kansas City, Missouri; and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Warren, Vela, Caden, Landon, and Laney, and numerous nieces and nephews.
