Curtis Gregg Costello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin died peacefully October 27, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends. Curtis was born September 16, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the youngest son of Arlo and Helen Costello. He grew up in Wichita, graduating from Kapaun Memorial High School and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity.
In 1971 he married Diane Dalin Costello and together they happily raised three children in Olathe, Kansas. Curtis worked in the mortgage banking business as an underwriter for 37 years, most recently at Veterans United Home Loans. He coached his children's baseball and softball teams and always attended their games, performances, ceremonies, concerts, and school activities. Curtis fiercely loved his wife, children, grandchildren and dogs, Ellie and Chloe. He was most proud of his three children, particularly when they got out of his billfold and went on to become productive and successful citizens in their communities. Curtis loved frequent fun gatherings of family, friends and food. He was a most humble man with passions for Mexican food, 1960's music, Fox News, the Jayhawks, drag races, NASCAR, golf, and tennis. Curtis was a connoisseur of wedding receptions with a rating system all his own.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Dalin Costello and three children, Chris Costello (Jenny), Anne Costello Evans (Mike) and Ryan Costello (Aislinn) and five grandchildren, Claire and Kylan Costello, Lucy and Rose Costello and Max Evans, sister Jerrlea Currigan, brother Barry Costello (Barbara), mother-in-law Lucille Dalin, brother-in-law Chris Dalin (Sherry), "honorary" sister-in-law E. J. Adams (Caleb) and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arlo and Helen Costello, infant brother Dennis, father-in-law Robert Dalin, brother-and sister-in-law Robert and Linda Dalin and dog pals, Smokey, Killer and Pede.
