Curtis Roger Bond, 86, passed away peacefully at Villa St. Francis on Saturday, January 4, 2020.
Curt was born September 3, 1933, in Fargo, North Dakota to Archie and Ruth Bond, the first of eight children. As his father was in the Air Force, the family lived in Michigan, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
Curt enjoyed ice fishing and hockey growing up in Fargo.
In 1952, Curt joined the United States Air Force and served until 1972. As a Tech Sergeant, Curt worked in Communications and Encryption while living in England, France, and Germany.
While in England, Curt met Marion Smith and married August 20, 1957.
In 1974, Curt and Marion moved to Nebraska until Curt began work for the Federal Aviation Administration in Olathe, Kansas where he served 20 years before retiring. Upon retirement, Curt worked another 20 years for Hy-Vee grocery stores.
Curt was the first Chairman for the newly formed Olathe Soccer Club and coached the legendary Lancers soccer team (and also baseball teams) for nearly 10 years.
He was preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Paul, Jay, Mark, and Joel.
Curt is survived by his wife, Marion and son, David Bond; brother Gary (Karen); sisters Audrey Yeager (Joel), Barb Metcalf (Lewis), Susan Christianson (Jerry); and precious grandchildren, Christina and Anthony Bond.
There will be a military service held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2PM, followed by a Celebration of Life until 4PM at the American Legion Post #153, 410 E Dennis Ave, Olathe, KS.
