Corinne Cardell

Corinne "Connie" Anne Marie Cardell, 54, loving wife, mother and daughter passed away peacefully at KC Hospice House on 5/17/2011. Diagnosed in November 2003 with leukemia, Connie waged a heroic and courageous battle, fighting valiantly for time with her loved ones. Connie was born 1/3/57 in Erie, PA and attended Westmoor High School in So. San Francisco. She graduated from U.C. Davis, Sacramento, and married Ken Cardell, the love of her life, on 8/1/81 in Burlingame, CA. They relocated to Leawood, KS in 1981 and raised their three beautiful daughters Krista (26), Kellie (25) and Madison (16). Connie dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, and has joined Him for eternity in paradise.

Connie owned and operated a successful corporate gift giving and marketing business- Personal Greetings- for over 23 years. She volunteered with numerous charities and local school programs. Connie assisted in the founding of Heartland Community Church, now in Olathe, KS. Last year, she organized her neighbors to complete over 270 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a charity of Samaritans Purse for orphaned children. Connie loved cooking, hosting parties and holiday events, traveling, camping, skiing and hiking. She had a passion for mentoring young mothers and was a member of Mops, Young Life Committee and many Bible studies.

Connie's life was dedicated to her husband, three daughters, family and friends. She wanted to thank her donor Jason, and the staff, doctors, nurses and aides at the KU Medical Center Bone Marrow Clinic for their love, care and heroic efforts that blessed her family and friends with seven more years of treasured memories.

Connie is survived by her husband Ken, daughters Krista, Kellie and Maddie; mother- Rosemary B. McHale - Reno, NV. brother, Dennis McHale, Dallas, TX, sister - Kathleen McHale Browne, San Bruno, CA and brother - Bart McHale, San Bruno, Ca. as well as her Father-in-law, H. Bruce Cardell of O.P, KS. She is also survived by nine nephews and two nieces and is preceded in death by her father, Robert "Mac" McHale, S.F. CA. and mother-in-law, Ruth A. Cardell, O.P. KS.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat. 5/21/11 at Heartland Community Church at 12175 S. Strang Line Road Olathe, KS 66062, with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall. Burial service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Newcomers Memorial Gardens at College and Metcalf.
