Colleen T. MacAdam, 44, of Olathe, Kan., passed away March 12, 2010, after kicking cancer's arse for longer than anyone expected or dared hope. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, with a service to follow. In honor of Colleen and her fighting spirit, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Young Survival Coalition.
Colleen was born Sept. 11, 1965. She was just 12 when her mother died, and she subsequently helped her father run the household and raise her two younger brothers. A graduate of St. Xavier High School in Junction City, Colleen earned a Bachelor's degree at Kansas State and a Master's degree at Wichita State. As a counselor in the Center School District for 14 years, Colleen's determination and altruism positively impacted thousands of students, just as she positively impacted her family and wide circle of friends and colleagues. Never give up, never give in!
She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Walsh, Jr. and Barbara A. Walsh (nee Payne). She is survived by her husband of 7 years, Kenneth Scott MacAdam; their child, Brynna Barbara MacAdam; stepchildren Coll Andrea Stodden, Thomas James MacAdam and Erin Elizabeth MacAdam; brothers Patrick Michael Walsh and Kevin Robert Walsh; grandfather William F. Walsh, Sr.; and grandmother Ora Payne.
