COLIN MICHAEL SCOTT, age 6, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on March 13, 2012. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob, Olathe, KS followed by funeral services on Tuesday, March 20 at 2:00 pm at Village Presbyterian Church,6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Colin Scott Memorial Fund, in care of CoreFirst Bank and Trust, 16201 W. 95th, Lenexa, KS 66219.
Colin was born ten weeks prematurely on November 20, 2005 to Mark and Cynthia Scott. Colin was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy in December of 2006. Although Colin was unable to walk or speak, throughout his life he overcame many obstacles and remained a fighter and inspiration to all. He touched so many lives and his infectious smile was contagious.
Surviving are his parents, Mark and Cynthia, and sister Madeline of the home, his siblings Courtney, Matthew, and Cooper of Overland Park, KS, his grandparents Ltc. (Ret.) Kenneth and Carol Scott, of Grand Rapids, MI, and Dr. Leslie and Susan Young, of Overland Park, KS, aunts Laura Hamacher of Hudsonvville, MI, and Kathleen Young of Eldersburg, MD, uncles Michael Young of Salem, OR, and Charles Young, of Olathe, KS , and numerous cousins.
The family wishes to thank Colin's team at Mize Elementary, his long-time therapists, and a special thank you to Cheryl Soper, Colin's home health care nurse.
