CLAUD E. HARRISON passed away March 24, 2014. He was born in 1932 in Cherokee County, Oklahoma to James and Kathryn Harrison, and his family soon moved to Kansas. He graduated from high school in Paola, KS in 1950.
He began his future as a welder for the pipeline industry as a laborer for the Phillips Pipeline Company, and soon after became a certified welder. His work included major pipeline companies such as Great Lakes Pipeline, Natkin & Company Pipeline Company Missile bases, Huxtable Hammond, Interstate Plumbing, Pitman Construction, Olathe, KS, and Southside Construction, Stanley, KS, during his life's vocation.
In 1980, he bought the Harris Brothers Machine Shop at 806 S. Kanas, Olathe, KS. His sons, Bruce and Monte Harrison, continue with the business as Harrison Machine & Welding, Inc.
Claud was a life-time member of the Abdallah Shrine Temple of Kansas City, KS. He supported the Abdallah Shrine Organization for several years as Maintenance Chairman for the Shrine Rodeo Unit. He led in the construction of the Wyandotte County Fairground Rodeo Chutes during his years of service. He held several Scottish Rite Offices as Commander in 1974, Wise Master in 1981, plus stage degree work. He was an Honorary 33rd Degree Mason of the Kansas City, KS Consistory. His other Masonic memberships included 50 years with Paola Lodge #37, Paola, KS, NE Kansas Scottish Rite Valley, Prairie Village, KS, American Legion Post #153, Olathe, KS, and 50-Year Member of United Association of Plumbers Local #8, Kansas City, MO.
Claud and his wife, Ruth, enjoyed retirement wintering eleven years in Punta Gorda, FL, and other travel included a Hawaiian trip touring several islands and visiting the Pearl Harbor site.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Kathryn Harrison of Paola, KS, and his sisters Joan K. Harrison and Doris L. Hermansen.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home, three sons; Craig A. Harrison
(Brenda) of Olathe, Bruce D. Harrison (Sue) of Spring Hill, and Monte G. Harrison, (Tracy) of Olathe, sister Opal Klinefelter, Olathe, his brother Duane Harrison, Paola, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
