Clarence Eldon Suddarth, 88, years of age was born July 29, 1917 and passed away March 1, 2006 at Royal Terrace Nursing Home. Visitation will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, March 4th at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association of Kansas.
Clarence was born on a farm west of Olathe in Johnson County and spent most of his life in Johnson County except four years and nine months which was spent in the army during World War II. He worked for the Civil Service over 26 years, at both the Olathe Naval base and Sunflower Ordinance Works, retiring in 1970. He then worked for Olathe Ford for 29 years and retired again at age 82. He also worked part-time for the Earl Allen Construction Company. Clarence was a member of First Baptist Church of Gardner and the American Legion Post #153 of Olathe.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn, two sons; Roger of the home, Richard and wife Ann of Wellsville, one daughter; Elsie Nickell and husband Gaylin of Lincoln, Nebraska, one grandson; Alan Nickell and wife Charla of Seward, Alaska, two great-grandsons; Dakota and Kale Nickell, two step grand-daughters, and four step grand-children, three brothers; Clifford, Harold and Bill, two brother-in-laws; Art Seute and Luke Hamblin, one sister in law; Lilly Mae Suddarth and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lily Suddarth, two sisters; Elsie Seute and Dorothy Hamblin, one brother; Chester Suddarth.
