Josephine Claire Howlett, 89, of Olathe, passed away on August 18, 2020 at the Olathe Medical Center from COVID-19 after becoming ill on Thursday, August 13, 2020.

She was born on February 22, 1931 to Joseph and Frances (Brummett) Kelso in Brownsville, TN.

Claire worked in Cosmetic Sales for Dillards for 30 years, retiring in 1995.

On November 12, 1950, she married Sterling J. Howlett. Claire and Sterling lived in Olathe, Kansas.

She enjoyed ice cream and bingo at her care facility, Evergreen, in Olathe.

Claire is survived by her Sons, Steve (Jann) Howlett, and Craig Howlett; Daughters, Joyce (Frank) Gould, Janice Mesch, and Julianne (Steve) Kottman; Sister, Judy Warren; Brother, Bill Kelso; 9 Grandchildren, Shannon (Jesse Ortez) Gould, Stacy (Scott) Dunn, Rebekah (Mike) Consiglio, Corey Kottman, Whitney (Adam) Webb, Wesley Howlett, Dustin Ming, Amanda (Matt) Ricley, Natalie Hart; and 11 great grandchildren; Mac and Harper Consiglio, Avah Dunn, Tatum Webb, Josey and Kara Lust, Wylin, Shay, and Jolie Ming, and Alyssa and Liviyia Hart.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Sterling J. Howlett.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN and/or Olathe Trailblazers Special Olympics.
