Chrystelle E. Hills

Chrystelle Elaine Reedy Hills, 80, of Topeka, KS, passed away on January 4th, 2017, in
Platte City, Missouri.

Chrystelle E. Hills (Chrys) was born in Topeka, KS to Eliphus and Florence Reedy on
December 19, 1936. She was the youngest of five children including three brothers,
Eugene and Maurice of Topeka, and Robert who lived in the Denver area and Ruth
Smith, also of Topeka. Chrys was the last surviving Reedy sibling. She attended and
graduated from Highland Park High School in 1954 then completed one year of
college at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Vocationally, she worked for the
state of Kansas for about 8 years in Topeka and then Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years,
retiring in 1998.

For most of her adult life, Chrystelle played the piano and organ in local Assembly of
God churches in the Topeka and Kansas City areas. An accomplished accompanist,
Chrys served Highland Park Assembly of God and Faith Assembly of God, both of
Topeka, Littleton Nazarene church in Littleton, CO, Englewood Assembly of God in
Englewood, CO, Crossroads A/G in Cameron, MO (where she met Bill), Englewood
A/G in Independence, MO and Glad Tidings A/G in Kansas City, MO among others.
Chrys played in weddings for several generations of couples including George
Blackwood, one of the original Blackwood brothers. In addition to the organ,
Chrystelle also enjoyed playing the trumpet, French horn, and accordion. Among the
interesting facts not many know, Chrystelle was also a certified scuba diver although
she confessed to a fear of water.

She is survived by her husband, William E. Hills of 23 years, her daughter, Tina
Porras, stepdaughter, Sara Hills, and stepson, Stephen Hills. Her surviving
grandchildren include, Chrystina Scott, Stefanie Scott, Jacob Scott, Aaron Owings,
Kaitlyn Reister, Kale Hills, and Connor Hills. She also enjoyed getting to know two
great grand children, James Buehler and Jayden Scott.
