Christopher (Chris) David Slaton, 41, of Olathe, Kan., died April 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Chris was born April 25, 1973, in Junction City, Kan. He grew up in Junction City and graduated from Junction City High School in 1991. After graduating, Chris attended Kansas State University and earned a dual degree in Criminal Justice and Marketing. Before his illness, Chris worked as an insurance underwriter for Farmer's Insurance in Kansas City.

He married his faithful and loving wife, Jennifer (Chalman) Slaton on January 4, 2003, in Manhattan, Kan. The love Chris and Jenny shared with each other was shown every day. They were best friends. They could joke about anything and even in the depths of their despair, could always rely on each other. Their relationship was the textbook example of true love and devotion. They were blessed to find their soulmates in each other.

Chris had many passions in life. The most important being the bond he had with his three young children. In his life, he overcame many adversities. Chris stopped at nothing to provide the best in life for his family. He loved watching football; cheering on K-State, The Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed playing fantasy football with his friends and coworkers. He enjoyed playing video games, reading and listening to podcasts. Since childhood, Chris loved superheroes, especially Batman. This was a passion he shared with his children. He was an avid fan of the BBC show "Doctor Who." Chris enjoyed many different genres of music, including classic rock, especially The Doors.

Chris was often known for his big laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He could brighten up a room with just his presence. He was a devoted son, brother, husband and father to his family. He was a great friend to all that knew him and will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched.

Survivors include, his wife, Jennifer (Chalman) Slaton and his three children, Sydney, Carter and Cole Slaton, all of Olathe, Kan.; his parents, John and Tina Wery, of Junction City, Kan.; and his sister, Maura Wery, of Kansas City, Mo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m., Sun. April 19 at Olathe Bible Church, 13700 W 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062. Funeral services will directly follow at 5 p.m. The family will hold a private interment at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later date.
