Christopher (Chris) Reid Langseth, 73, of Shawnee, Kansas, went to be with his Lord on December 12, 2023, thus winning his long battle with cancer.
Chris was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and the spiritual leader of his family. He was an artist who enjoyed painting, sculpture, woodcarving, writing, working with his hands and creating fun times. He shared his artistic skills and joy of life with hundreds of students, first at Olathe High School, MANC, then for 36 years at Piper High School. He continued using his artistic abilities after retirement painting signs for Red Horse Signs, writing stories for Johnson County Gazette, researching genealogy, and volunteering in the community.
Chris and his family and friends spent summers at the cabin he and Sue built in Colorado. There he enjoyed fishing, hiking, but not horseback riding.
His cheerful attitude and sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Sue; children Josef (Danyell) Langseth, Sarah (Chad) Hawkins, Laura (Terry) Mahoney; grandchildren Nathan and Matthew Langseth; Ashton, Katie and Spencer Hawkins; Tamia, Tessa, Violet and Miller Mahoney; siblings Mark (Mary) Langseth, Amy (Doug) Scott, and other extended family.
Should friends and family desire, memorial contributions may be made to Olathe Hospice or Community Covenant Church of Lenexa.
