Christopher A. Evans, 88, of Lenexa, KS. Passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at home. The family suggests contributions to Central Baptist Theological Seminary, 6601 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS.
Chris was born August 31, 1921 to Emery and Grace (Dillon) Evans. He Graduated from William Jewell College before receiving his Masters of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his American Baptist Ordination in April of 1942. He was pastor of 3 churches in Missouri before moving to Kansas. He served as pastor of FBC, Desoto (founding pastor), FBC, Altamont, FBC Valley Center, Brenner Heights BC, KCK (started Victory Hills BC, KCK), Maple Hill BC, KCK as well as Highland Crest BC, KCK. He was employed with the Central Baptist Theological Seminary for 6 years before retiring in 1987. Following retirement he served as interim pastor for several churches. A member of First Baptist Church, Olathe, he served as co-pastor with his wife Margarette for Senior Adult Ministry and led the Young at Heart group. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, boating, bee keeping, hand carving walking sticks and his cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Chris married Margarette Maxine Sweat on May 10, 1944, in Marysville, MO. Margarette died Feb. 22, 2006. He married Carma Jo Stuckle on Sept. 20, 2008. He is also survived by children; Margaret Evans, New York City, NY, Cheryl Robertson (Roger), Lenexa, KS, Janet Crowl, Topeka, KS, Dale Evans (Jenice), step children Cindy Keen (Doug) Connie Guerrero (Tommy), Colleen Hernandez (Angel). 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
