Charles "Ray" Shofner
August 5, 1941-January 28, 2022
Ray Shofner, age 80, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on January 28, 2022 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission after a long illness.
Ray was born August 5, 1941 in Wichita, KS. He grew up in Wichita and graduated from Wichita North High School. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. In 1972, he obtained his Professional Engineering License. While attending the University of Kansas he met and married his wife, Patty, on September 2, 1962. He worked for Owens-Corning Fiberglas for 29 years and retired from there in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Patty, of the home. They were married 60 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Tracy Browne (David), Mack, CO, Kelly Henry (Jeff), Hays, KS and a son Craig Shofner of St. Louis, Mo. He had five grandchildren, Courtney Wideman (Ronnie), Chloe Connaghan (Kyle), Oliver Henry, Emma Lutz (Ryan), and Abigail Henry. He his also survived by two great grandchildren, Emily and Blake Wideman, and his sister, Jean Worden, of Texas.
He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church over 50 years. He was an usher and served on the Board of Trustees at St. Marks. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing bridge and traveling. He will be missed forever by all who knew and loved him.
