Charles L. Rogers, 85, of Overland Park, KS passed away Thurs. Sept. 26, 2019 at Colonial Village.

Charles was born December 4, 1933 on a farm in Oskaloosa, KS to Lloyd and Claire Rogers. His professional career began with his appointment as Chief Physical Therapist at Research Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He then pursued a career in hospital administration earning a Master's degree at Washington University, St. Louis, MO and served his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He served as assistant hospital administrator at Memorial Hospital of Laramie County, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Charles was appointed President of Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, KS in 1967, serving for thirty four years. He was a Health Intern Mentor for students from the University of Alabama and the University of Kansas Hospital Administration programs. His professional achievements included; fellowship in the American College of Health Care Executives. In 1998 he received the Regents Award as the Kansas Heath Care Executive of the Year. He also served a term as President of the Hospital Linen Services of the Greater Kansas City Area Hospital Cooperative.

Charles was an active member of Rotary International for 38 years and served as Director and President of the Leavenworth-Lansing Chamber of Commerce. He was a strong supporter of small businesses in Leavenworth County.

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years Shirley Rogers, Daughter Kimberly Knoll, and Son-in-Law John of Tecumseh, KS.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS.

Memorials are preferred to Blue Valley Baptist Church or City Union Mission.
