Charles R. (Dick) Patterson, Jr.

Dick was born November 28, 1923, in Holliday, Kansas. His parents, Charles R. Patterson, Sr., and Viola Darlene (Bullock) Patterson preceded him in death.
Dick was a graduate of Bonner Springs High School, Bonner Springs, Kansas; and of Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and later served as Sergeant in the Colorado National Guard. In May of 1946, Dick married Bernice I. Gerth. He dearly loved her and was devoted to her throughout their 62 years of marriage.
After college Dick worked for the National Cookie Co. He joined Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Corp. in 1953. Dick left Chevrolet in 1970, to pursue his dream; owning and operating his own automobile dealership. He operated Patterson Chevrolet and Olds. in Ottawa, Kansas, until 1975. He then worked for the Union City Body Co., GerWin conversion vans, and Smitty's conversion vans.
Dick was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. He was a life member of Earl Collier Post #153 of the American Legion. He was a life member of the D.A.V.
Dick is survived by his wife, Bernice; twin sons, Philip and Robert (Ardis) Patterson, of Overland Park, Kansas; and a daughter, Kathleen Sutter of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
