CHARLES ROBERT NUGEN
Age 86, passed away May 12, 2005 in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 2;00-4:30 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS, followed by a funeral service on Monday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment, Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. The family suggests memorials to the Deaf Cultural Center, 455 E. Park, Olathe, KS 66061, or to First Baptist Church of Olathe, 2024 E. 151st, Olathe, KS.
Charles was born October 5, 1918 in Harmon Township, KS to J. Albert and Beatrice Nugen. He attended Kansas School for the Deaf, then worked for Hyer Boot Co. for 38 years. Charles eventually retired from K.S.D. after almost 10 years of service.
He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, the out-of-doors and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera, his sons Robert (Sue) Nugen of Gardner, Terry (Barb) Nugen of Edgerton, Karl (Carolyn) Nugen of Olathe, his sisters Ada Hervey and Annabelle Skinner, his brothers Albert Nugen, Jr. and Dean Nugen, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy, Ray, and Harold.
