CHARLES FRANKLIN HELLER, 88, of Olathe, KS passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.
Charles was born on January 10, 1926 to Charles Franklin and Elizabeth Witzgall Heller in their home on Parkview Lane in Elm Grove, WV. He was the first-born to this family of 6 children. His family lived in Elm Grove and he grew up in the hills of West Virginia. He met his future wife when a new Nazarene preacher moved into town with four daughters and a son. Wilma Jean Spiker was the oldest of these daughters. Shortly after this, Charles joined the Navy during World War II and was the ships cook. After his return home from the service, the romance blossomed and the rest is history. Charles and Wilma were married on June 29, 1947. They raised their family of three children (one son and two daughters) in Triadelphia, WV.
Charles worked as a gardener early on in their life together, and then began working for Wheeling Machine Products Company, working there for over 30 years before he retired. He had several jobs since his retirement which included crossing guard for the school district, security guard for Air Traffic Control in Olathe, and he also worked several years for Thompkins Industries.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Wilma, and son Ronald Heller. He is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Ketterling of Wadell, Arizona and Kathleen Bryant of Olathe, KS. They were proud grandparents of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Edgar Heller, Richard Heller, Kenneth Heller, and Ralph Heller and his only sisters, Catherine Lichterowicz.
Charles loved the Lord with all of his heart and his total desire was to live his life in such way that you would see Jesus in him. He always spoke of his love for his wife in the years of their marriage. The main desire of his heart has always been to know that his friends and family give their lives to Jesus Christ and that he will see each one of them in Heaven where he now lives in his new home.
