Charles "Bud" Dratwick, 83, of Olathe, KS passed away Wed. July 10, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. Private services will be at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, TX. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Grace Lutheran Church in Arlington, TX or St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL.
He was born Sept. 22, 1929 in Staunton, IL to Charles and Anna Dratwick. Bud grew up in Decatur, IL where he met his wife of 63 years and raised 4 daughters and 1 son where he worked multiple jobs and still found time for his family and playing softball for the Wabash team. He worked for the Wabash and Santa Fe Railroads for 40 plus years. Bud loved his St Louis Cardinals, St Louis Blues, Arizona Cardinals and the fighting Illini passionately. After retirement Bud was a self-taught computer guru, wood carver, loved cooking and playing Words with Friends. Bud and Doris enjoyed traveling and visiting with family, friends and grandchildren after retirement. Bud was a past member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL and was a dedicated member of the choir with a beautiful tenor voice.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris "Dottie" Dratwick Jan. 1, 2012. and his parents Charles (Chick) and Anna Dratwick and grandsons Billy Richmond and Bobby Dan Davis.
He is survived by 4 daughters Sherry Berry of El Paso, TX, Pamella Brunson of Irving, TX, Jann Richmond (William) of Arlington, TX, Gail Cook of Irving, TX. 1 son Charles V. Dratwick (Tori) of Alvarado, TX. 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Brother John Dratwick of Decatur, IL sister Eunice Carroll also of Decatur, IL. Sister in law Laurel Akin (Bob) of Enterprise, AL and Brother in law Van O'Connor (Missy) of Valley Head, AL. Niece Cindy Barnett and nephew Eric Carroll both of IL. The family would like to give a special thank you to his good friends Ronald Kwasney and Letha Wurtz for all of their love and special care.
