Charles Lyle Mccoy

Charles "Chuck" Lyle McCoy, 80, of Olathe, passed away at his home on May 19, 2019 at 8:51 a.m. He was born on July 15, 1938 to Lyle and Ivy (Buis) McCoy in Bethany, MO. He grew up in Leavenworth, KS and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1956. In 1961, Chuck married Shirley Gottschalck, his wife of 58 years. He then went to serve in the US Army from 1961 to 1963.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Shirley McCoy; children, Tim (Kelly) McCoy of Olathe, KS, Bev (Cecil) McCoy of Harrisonville, MO, Tom (Nicki) McCoy of Olathe, KS, and Jeanine (Craig) Gentry of Moraga, CA; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara McCoy; and his furry companion, Carlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle F McCoy (February 1994) and Ivy Muriel McCoy (July 1991); and his brother, JC McCoy (January 2013).
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either the American Heart Association or to Wayside Waifs.
