Charles James Beavers

September 1, 1942 — March 29, 2023

Charles "Charlie" James Beavers, 80, of Olathe, KS passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Hospice House in Olathe, KS where he was surrounded by family.

Charlie was born on September 1, 1942 in Wichita, KS to Deane and Cora (Ireland) Beavers. Charlie attended several schools before graduating from Preston High School in 1960. Charlie then spent the greater part of 30 years in management, finance, healthcare and insurance, before retiring in 2007.

Sports were a big part of his life from the time he was a boy. He lettered multiple years in basketball, football and track. Charlie went on to coach baseball, football and softball, leading a number of teams to championships. Although sports were a passion, his real love was football queen and lifelong love, Leatha (Veatch) Beavers. He also loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Charlie had a contagious laugh, loved a good joke. He played the straight man like no other. Integrity, honesty, trust, and family were his passions, but what brought it all together was having God at his core. He was a charter member at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and was president of the congregation for nearly 5 years.

Charlie and Leatha met in the 4th grade in Preston, KS and many have said he loved her since that time. They married in January of 1963, and they have 3 children, Larry, Sheila and Stephanie.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Deane and Cora Beavers and grandson, Ryan Beavers. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leatha; his son Larry Beavers and wife, Missy of Overland Park, KS; daughter Sheila Taylor and husband Logan of Archie, MO; daughter Stephanie Beavers-Owen of Olathe, KS; brother Sam Beavers and wife Reba of Orlando, FL; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with a visitation/reception following until 12:00pm.
