CECIL HAMPTON EVANS
1924-2009
Graveside services for Cecil Evans, age 85, of Olathe, Kan., will be held Friday, July 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kan. Memorials are suggested to the DAV, the VFW, or to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Evans passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, at Delmar Gardens. He was born on January 24, 1924, in Johnson County, Mo., to and Bacil and Haidee (Cecil) Evans.
Cecil served our country in the Marine Corps during WW II, the Pacific Theatre, earning both a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
He was a lifetime member of Local 518 Cement Masons. Cecil was also a lifetime member of the VFW, the DAV, and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Evans of Olathe, and his son, Bacil Evans and fiancee Laura, and his daughter Mary Lynn Evans, Florida, and grandson Thomas Weaver and granddaughters Brandy Buckingham and Jessica Evans. He is also survived by two brothers, Levi (Mary) Evans of Kansas City, Mo., and Kenneth Evans, Texas.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Roy Evans and William Joseph Evans, and his parents.
