Catherine Ann Collier, 80, of Olathe, Kansas, died peacefully on May 22, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Catherine was born August 25, 1936 in Kansas CIty, Missouri, the only child of Marco and Mary Margaret (Greenstreet) Calcara. After graduation from Southwest High School, she worked as a secretary at Morton Salt Company until January 1957, when she married C. Glen Collier at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In 1960, Glen and Catherine moved to Olathe, Kansas.
Catherine was an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed music (from country to opera), books, theater, classic movies, Mah Jongg and New York Times crossword puzzles. She was a volunteer for the Olathe Community Theater Association and served a term on the board of directors as secretary. She was a member of the Earl Collier American Legion Auxiliary. Most recently, she attended services at St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Pamela (Durham, NC), sons Stephen (Levasy, MO), Paul (Olathe) and Christopher (Edgerton, KS), granddaughters Erin Miller (Los Angeles, CA) and Jessica Hammond (Wake Forest, NC) and great grandchildren Jacob Parrish and Avangeline Hammond. She was preceded by her husband Glen and subsequent longtime companion Milton Cassity.
A luncheon and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion, 410 E. Dennis Ave., Olathe, KS. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or the Earl Collier American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund (410 E. Dennis Ave., Olathe, KS, 66061).
