here.Carolyn Joyce Skeens was born at home on August 6th, 1933 and passed away at home surrounded by family, to be with the Lord 90+ years later on Sunday April 21, 2024.
Born in Mission Kansas, and a lifelong Kansas resident, she was the first of three children. Her parents were Robert More and Alice More (n. Braum). She was joined by younger brother, Robert M. More, and Wilber L. More. Depression era bank closures sent the family to Kansas City for work, first at the main Kansas City post office, and later her dad became a master electrician.
Carolyn went to school in Shawnee Mission schools, graduating from Shawnee Mission Rural High School where she met her husband, Robert. She was active in school band as well as studying violin and piano at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. She graduated nursing school as an R.N. and enjoyed helping people until she had her three children; Robert, Joni, and James. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Skeens, her daughter, Joni Harding (Skeens), her brothers, Robert More and Wilbert More, and her parents, Alice & Robert More. She is survived by her sons, Robert Skeens and James Skeens, her grandchildren; James Skeens Jr., Alisa Self (Harding), Amy Skeens (Hruska), Grant Harding, Adam Skeens, Jeff Skeens, and her great-grandchildren; Jennifer Hruska, William Hruska, Paxton Self, and Lexi Self.
She will be greatly missed.
