Carolyn J. Mathis, 77, of Olathe, KS passed away May 5, 2010 at Homestead South of Olathe. Burial will be in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to American Diabetes Assoc.
Carolyn was born Sept. 1, 1932 in San Antonio, TX. She married James W. Mathis in June 1955. They raised their family in Dallas, TX., both worked in education and hotel industries. Later they moved to Austin, TX, where she was an administrative assistant for various companies. She enjoyed painting and drawing, and would often teach at local shops. In her later years she moved to Olathe, KS where she continued her love of art through teaching.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. Her parents Eddie and Katheryn Beversdorf and her sister Judith Grobe.
She is survived by 2 daughters Janet Mathis of Olathe, KS and Carole McClure of Manasses, VA. 1 Son Michael Mathis, Phd of Shreveport, LA. Grandchildren; Timothy Mathis, Emily Mathis, and Nikole McClure. As well as 1 brother Charles Beversdorf.
