Caroline "Kiki" Kemper German Longmoor, 80 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on April 27, 2013. A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Caroline's life.
Caroline was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 6, 1932. She
graduated from Lee Summit High School and continued on to earn a BA in Art Education from Park College in Kansas City and later, her MA in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma.
Caroline worked as a Regional Librarian for the Kansas State Library Talking Books Program for 11 years, first in Topeka and later in Emporia. She went on to work for the National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. for 6 years. Prior to retiring, Caroline also worked at Lake Havasu Library in Arizona and the Wichita Public Library.
Caroline enjoyed reading, painting, quilting, traveling and spending time with friends and family. In 1962, she helped organize the start of what is now named The Heart of America Japan-America Society in Kansas City, and was a member of the American Library Association as well as many other organizations.
Caroline is survived by son John (Beth) Longmoor, son Dr. Charles (Angela) Longmoor, daughter Stephanie Locke and daughter Cathy (Jeff) Hayes. Caroline also leaves behind three grandchildren, Nigel Perez, Annie Hayes and Will Hayes and many other family and friends. Caroline is preceded in death by her sister, Louise Ottenville.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer's Association. Caroline's family wishes to thank Homestead Memory Care of Olathe and Vitas Hospice of Kansas for all their love and care.
