CAROLE ANN O'HARA
Age 64, passed away March 2, 2010, surrounded by her family at Kansas City Hospice House, after an extended respiratory illness. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 5, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm, both in the chapel of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday,March 6 at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. The family suggests memorials to the Marian Mantle Group, PO Box 24291, Overland Park, KS 66283.
Carole was born December 24, 1945 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Bennie and Colleen Sims. She was a graduate of Pittsburg High School, and married Patrick O'Hara on June 1, 1968. They moved their family from Parsons, Ks, to the Olathe area in 1976. Carole and her family were active in the St. Paul Parish, and in later years attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Surviving are her children, David (Tracey) O'Hara, Michael (Stephanie) O'Hara, John (Raquel) O'Hara, and Jane (Michael) Melichar, grandchildren Shaun, Haleigh, Derek, Johnny, Jaclyn, Brian, Michael, Megan, Ciara, and Cailyn. Also survived by her brother Paul and Gary Sims, numerous nieces and nephews, and a cousin who was like a sister, Teresa Durrill. Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick, in November of 2009, and her parents.
