Carole Kay Holman, 84, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Willard and Audrey (Storie) Comstock.
Carole went to Center High School and married Lawrence E. Smith upon graduation. They enjoyed Square dancing and get-togethers with two other couples for taco nights and shrimp boil dinners. Carole and Eddie became foster parents in the late 1960's and together with their two biological children Sonia and Steven, shared their home with 71 foster children through the late 1970's, including Maria, whom they adopted.
Several years after Eddie's passing, Carole was reintroduced to her first teenage crush – Robert Holman. She reported that she received her very first kiss from Bob! Carole and Bob were happily married for 22 years and enjoyed going to the casino for dinner and loved entertaining family and friends in their home.
Carole is survived by her daughter Sonia (David) Crim of Olathe, daughter Maria Brown of Columbia, Missouri, Stepson Robert (Barbara) Holman of Novato, California, and Stepdaughter Sherri Green of Gardner, Kansas. Carole is also survived by her grandchildren Aaron (Heather) Crim of Lawrence, Kansas, Matthew (Wendy) Crim of North Kansas City, Andrea (Patrick) Irwin of Merritt Island, Florida, Meghan (fiancé Ryan) of Paola, Kansas, Caitlin (Joe) Beck of Kansas City, Missouri, Jordan Smith of Lee's Summit, MO, Elizabeth Brown of Lee's Summit, MO, Susan Y. Holman (Rob) Robert's of Larkspur, California, Kaysi L. Holman of Novato, California, and Logan (Megan) Green of Gardner, Kansas. Carole is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her husbands Lawrence E. Smith and Robert "Ho Ho Ho" Holman and her son Steven Edward. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Carole's memory be made to Ascend Hospice. They lovingly cared for Carole in her last month of life, and were a very rich blessing to the family.
