Carol Jeanne Mills, 81, of Olathe, KS, passed away on October 5, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
She was born on July 28, 1939, to William and Evelyn (Shaw) Lindsay in Chicago, IL.
Carol enjoyed her career as a nurse, working at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL, and then as a missionary at an orphanage near Monterrey, Mexico.
On August 22nd, 1970, she married Lance Mills. For 35 years she was a faithful pastor's wife, living and ministering by his side in various churches throughout Pennsylvania. She loved children and taught Good News Clubs in her home for many years. She lovingly cared for her husband during his declining years due to Alzheimer's.
In 2011 she moved to Olathe, Kansas to be near her oldest daughter Janey. She was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church of Overland Park, Kansas. She particularly enjoyed time with family and friends. In 2016 she moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home where she continued to share the love of Christ with everyone she met.
Carol is survived by her loving children; Janey Currey (Nathan), Rita Barillas (Gerardo), and Rebekah Daye (David), her grandchildren; Emily & Jonathan Fictorie; Josh, Rebekah, and Meghan Currey; Alejandra, Mateo, and Lucas Barillas; Lindsay, Ethan, Gibson, and Ainsley Daye. She is also survived by her sister Mary Backhaus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and one brother.
Services will be held on October 17th at 2 pm at Zion's E.C. Church with burial to follow in the Zion E.C. Cemetery, Pitman, PA. A Memorial service will be held at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00pm.
