Carol Ann Bloodworth formally of Cheney, Kansas passed away on February 13, 2024. Carol was the 3rd of 5 children born in Wichita, Kansas to Henry and Marie (Doll) Heinicke on May 3rd, 1940. After graduating from Wichita East High School and completing a brief stint with the Navy to study meteorology, Carol married and started a family. Later, divorced and raising 5 children, she went back to school, earned a degree from Wichita State University, and found her life's calling in city management in the late 70s. She had 25 years of service in Horton, Kiowa, Cheney, and Maize, Kansas, and served on the Kansas Association of City/County Management (KACM) Board of Directors as President. Carol was committed to mentoring others in City management and received a KACM Career Achievement award for her dedication. Also, as a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) she was awarded a Community Partnership Award for the purchase and expansion of Cheney's Cherry Oaks Municipal Golf Course. She also served on the board of Starkey, an organization that promotes the independence of people with intellectual disabilities. She was an avid reader and had a love of music, theater, root beer floats, scrabble, and politics.
Carol is preceded in death by her 2 sons Kenneth and Gregory Bloodworth and her parents Henry and Marie Heinicke.
Survived by her siblings Jane White (Paul), Henry George Heinicke, Jerry Heinicke (Francis), Jim Heinicke (Joyce); her 3 daughters, Kathryn McAnulty (Phil) of Overbrook, Ks; Julia Casey of Overland Park, Ks: Meredith O'Donnell (Lance and Erin Bloodworth) of Sorrento, Fl; her 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life on her birthday May 3rd at 11:00 am at the Laurel Cemetery, Haven, Kansas.
