Carol Ann Biga

CAROL ANN HEDWIG (KARASINSKI) BIGA, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Olathe, KS at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Carol was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 4, 1941 to Carl and Hedy Karasinski. She married Robert F. Biga on September 28, 1963, and graduated with a Degree in Registered Nursing from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She worked for one year at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, NY and for nine years at Beth Israel, in New Jersey, and eventually relocated to Maryville, MO where she retired after nineteen years of nursing in hospitals , clinics, and nursing homes.

Carol was a beacon of strength for all who met her. She was a devoted wife and partner, a loving mother to her two girls, an adoring Nana to her five grandchildren, and a caring and compassionate nurse and friend to all who met her. Carol is survived by her husband Robert, daughters Kimberly (Thomas) Ricker and Janine (Marc) Brungardt, her five grandchildren Brian, Collin and Mackenzie Ricker and Chase and Brady Brungardt, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hedy Karasinski and her sister Bernadine Hudanick. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm on Monday, December 27 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd, Olathe, KS followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Good Shepherd Hospice in Olathe, KS in Carol's name.
