Carl Dean "Pete" Mustain, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center. Pete was born on October 6, 1937 to William Shadrach and Ada Nichols Mustain in Dearborn, Missouri. He was the youngest boy of eleven siblings. Pete graduated from Olathe High School in 1955. He married Mary Ann Pinales on April 25, 1959. They raised three children, Gloria "Dee Dee", Kevin, and Darryl in Olathe, Kansas and enjoyed celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009. Pete was a member of Blue Valley Baptist Church. Pete owned and operated Mustain Construction for forty years. Besides his family, Pete's passion and greatest hobby has always been his love of restoring "street rods". He was a member of the American Street Rod Association, holding various leadership positions, and the National Street Rod Association, serving as state representative for seventeen years.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ada Mustain, and siblings William Jr., Lloyd, Donald, Irene, Cathy, and Laura. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of the home, children Dee Dee (Joe), Kevin (Kim), and Darryl (Kathy), grandchildren Calvin (Monica), Cody (Jenna), Courtney, Megan (Chris), Toni, DJ, Hayley, Kayla (Tom), Krista, and Karson, great-grandchildren Hannah, James, Chloe, Avery, Callie, and Corie. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Herring, Linda (Jim) Foley, Judy Pitts-Young, and Joan Mustain-Brooks, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
