Brian James Sinon was born May 27, 1953 in Casper, Wyoming and passed away April 7, 2014 at his home in Olathe, Kansas.
Brian worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 30 years, recently retiring on December 29, 2013. As a 1971 graduate of Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, WY, he enlisted in the US Navy as an STS3 on board the USS Robert E Lee until 1976. His service and pride of country was second to none.
He was married to Connie Gifford in 1974 and later divorced. Born of this union was daughter Kerry Colleen in 1976 and Jay Thomas in 1978.
In 1986, he wed Maureen Johnson from which he had a blended family with stepsons Charlie Johnson and Cory Johnson, who adored him as their true father at heart. Brian and Maureen together had three children; Kathleen Tara Sinon born in 1987, Timothy James Sinon born in 1989 and Riley James Sinon born in 1990. Brian and Maureen spent many wonderful years and memories together raising their family and then divorced in 2010.
Brian's life continued forward with great anticipation of retirement from the Federal Government just three short months ago. He spent his spare time learning to pilot small aircrafts and flying to see his children outside of the Olathe area. His grandchildren had become the light of his life. He was a proud "Gramps" the day he was able to take Jordan up for his first flight.
He had so painstakingly planned and scheduled his lifelong dream of visiting Ireland and his adventure was set to begin May 5, 2014. It is only in our sadness, that we will not get to experience his stories and jokes of his adventure, as he is now touring from the best seat in his heavenly airplane above.
His passion for teaching and commitment to adventure touched everyone in his path. In 60 short years his influence to the world cannot be forgotten; As Umpire, Coach, Parent, Teacher, Advocate, Chess Instructor, Grandfather, Cubscouts Day Camp Volunteer, Mediator, Pilot, and Consultant, his wisdom, spirit, and tenacity undoubtedly leaves behind a legacy unlike any other. His children and grandchildren are uniquely and indefinitely armed with his wit, his charm, his dedication, his passion, his expertise in the "human condition", and his love. He will be missed, but this world and the next will continue to feel his presence for generations to come.
