Bounleaung Thepsouphanh

Bounleaung Thepsouphanh, 72, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was born on May 14, 1953, in Muang Champassak, Laos, to Soune Thepsouphanh and Doungfa Chanthavong. 

Bounleaung grew up in Champassak, where he formed lifelong memories. Boun came to America in 1975, driven by hope and the promise of the American dream.

While still in Laos, his wife was introduced to him through a mutual friend, and their love story began through heartfelt letters exchanged across the miles. 

After years of hard work and saving, Boun was finally able to bring her to the United States in 1997. Two years later, in 1999, their greatest joy arrived with the birth of their beloved daughter, Lisa, completing their family.

Boun worked as a dedicated truck driver, providing for his family with unwavering commitment. In his free time, he found happiness in playing tennis and nurturing his garden, where he cultivated beauty and peace with his own hands. 

Bounleaung is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Soukhy Thepsouphanh; his cherished daughter, Lisa Thepsouphanh; and his dear sister, Penny Chanthavong, nieces Barbara Mongkhonvilay and Sabrina Sounakhen and nephew John Chanthavong and many beloved cousins and his future son in law Gianni Daino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Souane Thepsouphanh and Doungfa Chanthavong. 

Boun will be greatly missed and forever loved and always remembered for his kindness and generosity.

The family will welcome guests for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
