Bonnie L. Holman, 78, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away on April 2, 2016.
She was born in Morrowville, Kansas, to Marshall and Zelma (Krenkle) Finley and was raised in Keats, Kansas.
Bonnie completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She met her future husband, Jon, at the KU Medical Center, where he was a medical student. She brought him countless cups of coffee before he finally got the message and asked her out. Bonnie and Jon married in 1962 and began their life and family together.
Bonnie and Jon lived in Salina for nearly two decades. Throughout that time Bonnie served as a head nurse at Asbury Hospital. After raising their three children, they returned to the Kansas City area, where Bonnie's compassionate spirit, her sense of direction, and her willingness to go the extra mile made her a perfect home health nurse.
Bonnie was a living room storyteller in the finest tradition. Her long nursing career, as well as innumerable adventures with her three gregarious brothers and her conspiratorial twin sister, supplied endless comic material. Her best friends will remember her hearty laugh, her common sense, her quick wit, and her big heart. Bonnie's passions included quilting, knitting, cooking, entertaining, shopping, bridge, and loving her family.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Jon; children Emily, Matthew, and Sally; sons-in-law Paul and Philip; brothers Phillip Bruce Finley of Colby, Kansas, Robert Wallace Finley and wife Dolores of Boise, Idaho, and Sammy Jo Finley and wife Donna of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; twin sister Virginia Hiatt of Olathe, Kansas; brother-in-law David and wife Janet Sue of Winter Haven, Florida. Bonnie's warmth will be remembered by her nine grandchildren: Maeve, Fiona, and Aidan; Lucas and Noah; Loretta, Burke, Finley, and Solomon.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00am on Thursday, April 7th, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am.
