Bonita "Bonnie" May Moore, 86, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Monahans, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2023.
She was born on January 17, 1937 to Alger Jay and Ula May (Ramsey) Clark in Marlette, Michigan. She was Valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She attended Michigan State University, and graduated with a Master's Degree in Education.
She was married to William MacArthur Wishart in 1959, and together they had one child, Jaye Lynn.
She was later married to James "Buz" C. Moore, and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Bonita enjoyed her teaching career in the Gaylord Community School District in Gaylord, Michigan for over 30 years, with Kindergarten aged children being her passion. When she moved to West Texas, she fully embraced her new home, working the remainder of her career for Ward County, most recently as the Ward County Librarian. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, baking, volunteering at her church and its food pantry, and weekly visits to the local nursing home sharing in their music program and singing hymns with the residents.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monahans, and active in teaching an Adult Sunday School Class, a member of the church choir and a member of the handbell choir. She also served on several of the church's committees in various supporting roles throughout her time there.
Her family will remember her for her incredibly giving heart, and as a woman of deep faith and who lived her faith daily. She loved animals, all animals, but especially her kitties and grandkitties. She loved books, and would rather read than anything else. She began her day with her many daily devotionals and Bible readings, and would search her cookbooks for new recipes to try and share with others. She was always sharing and caring for others and all who knew her were blessed by her.
Bonita is survived by her loving daughter, Jaye Lynn (Joe) Lauria, her brother Kent (Jineen) Clark, her niece Lisa (Rob) Buck and nephew Michael (Rhonda) Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and grandparents.
